Word Colony: Original is a card game that mixes trivia, word building and strategy as players win letter cards and spell crossing words.

Most cards show a letter, a question and a point value, and special cards trigger abilities such as Immunity, Magic Word, Fist Bump and Conquest. Each round, one player asks a question that the others try to answer, and cards are won for right answers or when everyone is wrong. That player then spells words with their cards to score points, adding a second, perpendicular word across the first so it cannot be stolen. That crossing creates your first word colony, which you keep expanding for more points. With 500 cards, it plays with 2 to 4 players, ages 10 and up, in 30 to 90 minutes.
