The Phantom of the Opera

The Phantom of the Opera is a two-player trick-taking card game that pits the Phantom’s musical ambitions against Christine’s efforts to escape his grasp.

One player controls the Phantom, working to complete a musical score, while the other plays Christine and tries to disrupt his plans. Across two rounds of ten tricks, players follow suit and use trump and super-trump suits to control which side takes each trick. The Phantom must win and lose specific tricks in the required pattern, making careful timing as important as simply taking cards. The Number on the Seal can trigger card exchanges and scoring effects that further complicate each hand. If the Phantom completes the score within two rounds, he wins; otherwise, Christine escapes.
