Dominant Species

Dominant Species is a board game that pits six animal classes against each other in a strategic struggle for survival as the Ice Age closes in.

Players take control of Mammals, Reptiles, Birds, Amphibians, Arachnids, or Insects and compete to spread their species, adapt to shifting environments, and dominate terrain across an expanding prehistoric world. Action pawn placement drives the game, with each turn asking players to balance growth, migration, competition, environmental change, and timing as they chase dominance cards and victory points. The evolving map and encroaching tundra create constant pressure, giving the game a strong mix of long-range planning, tactical disruption, and positional control. It is a deep, interactive strategy game with a sharp survival theme and a strong table presence. It plays with 2–6 players, takes about 2–4 hours, and is recommended for ages 13 and up.
