In the Shadows: Resistance in France, 1943-1944 is a card-driven historical wargame that recreates the clandestine struggle between the French Resistance and occupying forces during World War II.

In the two-player game, one side leads the Resistance while the other commands German and collaborating French forces in a contest for influence across occupied France. Event cards and suit-based actions determine the cost and effectiveness of operations as the Resistance recruits supporters and undermines Occupation authority while its opponents uncover cells and make arrests. A Resolution deck replaces dice, using card draws to resolve actions and keep play focused on strategic decisions. A separate narrative solitaire mode puts one player in the role of a Resistance leader facing an automated Occupation opponent.
