Black Seas - French Navy Fleet

Black Seas - French Navy Fleet is a fleet set that builds out a French naval force for battles across the age of sail.

Command frigates, brigs, ships of the line, and support craft as you maneuver for position, trade broadsides, and try to outfight enemy fleets on the open sea. This set is built for Black Seas and gives you a substantial French force with a mix of lighter vessels and powerful line ships for varied tactical play. It includes plastic frigates, brigs, and third rates, plus a resin and metal first-rate, a gun boats base, French Navy flags, sails and rigging sheets, game cards, and wake markers. A selection of metal figureheads and backplates lets you build several famous French Navy ships, including Redoubtable, Themis, L'Aigle, L'Hermione, Comete, and Bucentaure. French ships, however, were generally well built, and quick. This is reflected in the national special rules for the French Navy. They are able to purchase both the 'sturdy' and 'streamlined' upgrades for a discounted cost. French crews were also trained to shoot high, in order to capture enemy ships rather than destroy them. As such, they do not suffer the same penalties to hit when aiming high as the other navies do.
